“If we want to convince search engine users to change their habits and leave the established providers, we need to plan and implement measures to promote trust and acceptance. Otherwise, the important development of an open search infrastructure that we are currently pursuing in Europe could come to nothing.”

Prof. Dr. Matthias Söllner is Head of the Department of Information Systems and System Development (WISE) and Director of the Scientific Center for IT Design (ITeG), both at the University of Kassel. He conducts research on trustworthy and acceptance-promoting design of digital innovations, combining methods of empirical social research with design-oriented methods of business informatics.

Prof. Söllner also acts as coordinator of the interdisciplinary individual project at the University of Kassel (Komp-HI), which is funded by the BMBF as part of the federal-state initiative “AI in higher education.”
