The lawyer Dr. Christian Geminn is a habilitated expert in public law and digital corporate law with extensive experience in research, teaching and consulting. He is a private lecturer at the University of Kassel, Managing Director of the Provet project group and the Datenrecht Beratungsgesellschaft. Since March 2024, he has been leading on the BMBF-funded project PriDI – Privacy-enhancing digital infrastructures.
Vita
Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christian Geminn qualified as a university lecturer in 2023 and received his teaching license for public law and the law of the digital society. Since 2017, Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christian Geminn has been the first Managing Director of the provet project group since 2017 and Managing Partner of Datenrecht Beratungsgesellschaft since 2022.
Geminn’s academic career began with his doctorate in 2013, in which he investigated the legally compliant use of security measures in public transport. Since 2017, he has been an associated postdoc in the DFG Research Training Group “Privacy & Trust for Mobile Users”. Previously, he worked from 2011 to 2014 on the project “Security Impact Assessment Measures”, a decision support system for security technologies, and from 2014 to 2016 on the “Study on mapping and analyzing the privacy arena”. Between 2019 and 2023, he worked on the “IMPACT” project, which investigated the impact of conversations with intelligent machines on people’s everyday lives and communication behavior. Since 2021, he has been working on the project “Scientific Coordination and Moderation of the Platform Privacy” (Plattform Privatheit).
Geminn studied law at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and De Montfort University in Leicester, England, from 2003 to 2010. In 2008, he obtained the “Certificate of Higher Education (English Law)” at De Montfort Law School and completed his studies in 2010 with a master’s degree in German and foreign law.
Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christian Geminn gained international experience during several research stays in Japan, including as a guest lecturer at Chuo University in Tokyo in 2016 and as a Visiting Research Fellow at Waseda University, also in Tokyo, in 2022.
